Casper David Friedrich (1774-1840) captures the essence of my story in his picture       “Monk by the Sea” (1808). This is a picture of a monk who is is standing looking at a spacious landscape.

Nothing to me seems more timeless than this view of nature. His contemplation of this wide physical space can be compared to an equally extensive journey he takes in his minds eye.

A space without borders provides images which cannot be fully comprehended. The freedom of such landscapes is a magnetic attraction for me. Waves, rock scenery, wildlife and friendly people have all contributed in drawing me to these islands.

Wrecks - stories of two shipwrecks on the west side of Shetland.

Views - photographs mostly from parts of the coast.

Drawings - a collection of scenes featuring coastal views, flowers, birds and ponies.
