To find well preserved timber is unusual after many years of weathering and decay the wood has often rotted away.
Some of the timbers have been very difficult to transport from the beach to the road as they have weighed 30-40Kg and were 1.5m long. Some have been a bit of an ordeal taking more than a week to carry in stages.
